There are 2 opinions: either they poured ⅛ of the oil in the menorah each night and it lasted until the next day. Or they filled the menorah on the first day and it lasted all eight days. Regardless, they were amazed to see each morning that the menorah was still lit and had the exact same amount of oil the entire time and the light of the menorah was shining on Jerusalem.
